Lockerz.com is an international social networking and e-commerce website based out of Pittsburgh, PA with an additional office in Seattle, WA. At its peak, the site claimed 17 million members in 195 different countries, though current traffic has since declined.

Lockerz operates primarily on the basis of accumulating and spending Lockerz points, also called PTZ. Members acquire PTZ for logging in to the site, watching short videos, referring friends, answering daily questions and polls, or purchasing items from Lockerz, among other activities. PTZ can be used for discounts on clothing, electronics, fashion accessories and other products in the Lockerz SHOP and special redemptions.

The company was founded in 2009 by now-CEO Kathy Savitt. Savitt is the former Executive Vice President, CMO of American Eagle Outfitters and was previously a senior executive at Amazon. Focusing on content geared for Generation Z, Lockerz grew from 50 college and high school students to 16 million in less than twelve months through word-of-mouth and social media.

In October 2010, Lockerz introduced its social commerce platform, fwb;). In this first-of-its-kind hybrid of e-commerce and social networking, members are rewarded with PTZ for introducing their friends to their favorite fashion, electronics and technology brands, as well as music, videos and more. fwb;) creates a mutually beneficial relationship between members, their friends, and their favorite brands and artists. Friends share favorites, and everyone benefits. Lockerz members create personal profiles or “Lockerz,” in which “Decalz” (akin to badges) are showcased for friends to view. When a Lockerz friend clicks on a Decalz in another member’s Locker, both members earn PTZ. If a friend purchases a product or views a video in-full after clicking on a Decalz, both members earn significantly more PTZ. As members accumulate PTZ, they can use them for discounts on merchandise in Lockerz Boutiques. The more influential members are with their Friends, the more PTZ they earn for their own shopping.
